Last Saturday 1 November, the Pindacāra programme was especially endearing with the presence of Ven. Sucitta a bhikkhu (monk), Ven. Ayya Sanghamitta a bhikkhunī (nun), upāsakas (male lay followers), and upāsikās (female lay followers). The community at the O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets made offerings to the Sangha members with joy and reverence.
From the time of the Buddha, householders have been supporting the monastic order having been inspired by their monastic practice and teachings. With gratitude for their offerings, monastics offer Dhamma teachings and advice for the well-being of many. The Buddha had pointed out that this reciprocal dependence between monastics and lay sustains the Sasana.
We invite you to join us this Sunday 9 November for ‘Sangha Day’ at Nalanda Centre to learn more, and to make offerings of requisites to the Sangha. The programme will begin at 9am and includes Dhamma talks in English and Mandarin as well as offering of lunch dana after the requisites offering ceremony. All are welcome.
