On Sunday 21 June, Nalanda Dhamma School hosted a joyful and meaningful Parents’ Day celebration at Nalanda Centre, dedicated to honouring and reflecting on the invaluable role and contributions of parents in our lives.
The programme began with children gently holding their parents’ hands, experiencing the warmth and care embodied in those precious hands that have guided, protected, and supported them through life’s challenges. This simple yet profound gesture reminded everyone of the sacrifices and loving guidance of parents, who continually lead their children towards wholesome paths.
A special activity invited the children to draw portraits of their parents. As they slowed down to observe their parents’ features and expressions more carefully, they developed a deeper appreciation for them, imprinting these moments in their hearts and minds before presenting the drawings as heartfelt gifts.
It was a most touching moment came when the children paid homage to their parents, expressing gratitude and respect for their care, sacrifices, and unconditional love. In return, parents offered blessings for their children, creating an atmosphere of mutual love and appreciation.
The celebration was a beautiful reminder of filial gratitude and the nurturing bond between parents and children – values cherished in the Dhamma, forming the foundation for harmony, warmth, and happiness within the family.
