Wesak Day is fast approaching and all Nalandians are hastening our efforts to welcome this joyous occasion which commemorates the birth, Enlightenment and passing away of our revered teacher, the Buddha.  On 20 April, devotees congregated at Nalanda Centre for the weekly Service Sunday and to volunteer their help for ‘Buddha Day’ (Wesak) preparations.

The service included a sharing by Sis. Joanne Tan who spoke about the significance of Wesak Day for Buddhists.  After the talk, devotees were grouped into various task units doing artwork, cleaning the centre, hanging banners, participating in ‘gotong-royong’ to clean up the neighbourhood, and many other jobs.  Everyone’s effort and contribution was later rewarded with a hearty communal lunch!

Sis. Joanne Tan sharing about her experience in celebrating Wesak 'Buddha Day' and the significance of Wesak to Buddhists.

We look forward to seeing everyone again this coming Sunday 27 April for more fruitful time spent performing wholesome service with earnest spiritual friends.  All are welcome!
