Welcoming the New Year with the joy of giving and reverence

Ven. Ayya Sanghamitta with devotees from Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch after the Pindacāra programme. We thank Ayya for her presence and we wish her a blessed year ahead!

Starting the New Year on a wholesome note, Nalanda KL Branch members and volunteers hosted the inaugural monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden morning markets last Saturday, 3 January 2026.

Even more significant was having a bhikkhuni to lead the Pindacāra!  As Ven. Ayya Sanghamitta walked mindfully on alms round, her serene presence inspired devotees and marketgoers alike to joyfully come forward with offerings, creating a beautiful atmosphere filled with faith, generosity, and reverence.

Roles get reversed! Sisters get the opportunity to be kappiya to a female Sangha member whilst the brothers take on the People Engagement role.

It was truly heartening to see devotees who came well prepared with offerings for the lunch dāna held after the alms round, offering with muditā (appreciative joy) and sincerity of heart. The entire process of giving was indeed beautiful in the beginning, beautiful in the middle, and beautiful in the end.

May all who participated continue to cultivate this noble spirit of generosity, and may they experience the deep joy and blessings that arise from giving and letting go.
