Cultivating the mind through Bhāvanā Workshop

Cultivating the mind through Bhāvanā Workshop

On Sunday 11 October, members and devotees gathered for a meditation workshop led by Bro. Tan Siang Chye, who highlighted the importance of bhāvanā, or mental cultivation, as an integral part of Buddhist practice.

The workshop introduced three categories of practice: Samatha (calming the mind), Vipassanā (awakening the mind), and Anussati (bringing positivity to the mind).  Through guided exercises in chanting, body scanning, mindful eating, sympathetic joy and recollection of good deeds, participants explored practical ways to cultivate wholesome mental states.

These practices offer valuable ways to nurture the mind not only during formal meditation but also in everyday life.  We rejoice in everyone’s participation and thank Bro. Tan Siang Chye for his valuable guidance.  Sādhu!
