Happy Young Adults learn effective communication and listening skills

On Tuesday 22 April, the young working adults group continued their learning about ‘Building Effective Communication and Active Listening’ with Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden.  They explored three important skills, being 1) reading the room and paying attention to non-verbal cues to better understand the context 2) logical and analytical reasoning to draw valid conclusions and digest information logically, and 3) asking questions in the right way and in carefully thought-out words.

Working together for Mother Nature

Today 22 April is Earth Day, a time to reflect on our impact on the planet and up our efforts in safeguarding our planet.  Earth Day Observance at Nalanda Centre saw devotees, youths, Dhamma School facilitators, parents & students come together last Sunday 20 April, to upkeep the environment in and around our spiritual home.

Undergraduates learn ways to manage stress

On Sunday, 13 April, Nalanda Youth Centre organised a Stress Management Workshop for students aged 16 to 23.  Guided by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar, the students became more aware of their emotional states and explored practical ways to care for their minds and hearts amidst daily stress.

‘Happy Young Adults’ explores adapting to change

On Tuesday 8 April, the Happy Young Adults participants came together at NEO Centre KL in Happy Garden to learn with Sis. See Hui Shien on the topic of ‘Adapting to change and being agile’.  The first step is to adjust our attitude to know and accept that impermanence and change is a part of life change.  And when we face the eight worldly winds of gain & loss, fame & ill fame, praise & blame, pleasure & pain, we should hone ourselves to be unattached to changing circumstances and maintain equanimity to be emotionally stable.

Undergraduate Stress Management Workshop

Nalanda Youth Centre is organising a stress management workshop, on Sunday 13 April from 2pm to 5pm at Nalanda Centre. This 1-day workshop will be conducted by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar and is tailored for students between ages 16 to 23.  Among the workshop highlights are inspiring talks and peer discussions on how to handle stress faced during our schooling and college days.

Undergraduates learn & connect at Stay-In Programme

From Saturday 29 March to Tuesday 1 April, over 50 youths and volunteers dedicated the long holiday-weekend to Dhamma learning and service at the Undergraduates Stay-in Programme in Wisdom Park, organised by Nalanda Youth Centre.  The students explored the theme ‘Path of Togetherness’ as they developed stronger bonds of friendship and the beginnings of a peer community.

On Tuesday 25 March, 'Happy Young Adults' continued their learning with Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy about ‘Building Confidence and Assertiveness’ at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden. The group started the session with defining confidence and the common challenges faced in establishing confidence at work and in life.

Joyful Family Sports Day at Putrajaya

On Sunday 23 March, over 200 parents, youths, teenagers, and children gathered at Taman Putra Perdana, Putrajaya for an energetic Family Sports Day. The morning kicked off with a lively warm-up session before families teamed up for a series of fun-filled tele-match games.

‘Happy Young adults’ learn about staying motivated at work

On Tuesday 11 March, the Happy Young Adults’ Programme continued with their learning session on ‘Sustaining Motivation at Work’ by Mr. Lok Eng Hong, a corporate leader in the banking industry. Gathered at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden, the youths first reflected on factors that motivate and demotivate us at work, finding many similarities amongst themselves.

Building meaningful connections guided by the Dhamma

On Sunday 16 March, Nalanda Youth Centre warmly welcomed university students from Xiamen University Malaysia Buddhist Society for a meaningful gathering on the topic of "Blessings in Life." Their visit began with the Patron’s Day joint service, followed by  fellowship activities and an inspiring Dhamma sharing by Sis. Sunanda. She shared insights from the Maṅgala Sutta, highlighting three essential qualities for cultivating blessings—Gāravo (reverence) towards teachers and parents, Nivāto (humility) in letting go of ego, and Santutthī (contentment) in overcoming greed and attachment.
