After two months of preparation, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch is proud to welcome everyone to tonight’s concert to raise funds for the building of “Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre” in Bandar Mutiara, Sungai Petani. The concert will be held at ‘Persatuan Pendidikan Akhlak Lip Seang Kor’ Hall (双溪大年 吉中德教会). Read moreOn Sunday 21 September, Nalanda Buddhist Society members from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur Branch gathered for a ‘family’ reunion at our ‘spiritual home’ – Nalanda Centre – for another Members’ Day. The gathering started with a piece of good news – our youths’ effort in producing a video titled ‘Hope’ for Siddharthan Care Centre won the best short film category in a recent competition. On Sunday 21 September, volunteers and stall operators of the recent Nalanda Family Fun Fair 2014 were treated to a tea party to appreciate their contribution towards the success of the event. About 60 people attended the tea party which was held at the Youth Centre.
Read moreNalanda’s Chinese-Language Communications Team marked their six months on the job this week. Back in March, the team launched a Mandarin Facebook page to reach out to more people. The posts published there comprise original designs, new articles by teachers, and interviews with volunteers. So far the page has received very encouraging support due to the quality of its contents.

Read moreDuring last weekend’s Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’, we were touched by our Kelantanese friends who came from so far by train, bus and plane to support the event! An advance party of 8 devotees came to camp at Nalanda Centre for 2 days to help with the preparations. And they did not come empty handed – together they brought along 2,000 pieces of home-made ‘tao pao’ (a local Kelantanese delicacy), 50kg of various fruits, and 300 coconuts!

The heavy downpour which came towards the end of the Fair did not dampen the high spirits and strong camaraderie as everyone was happy working selflessly and tirelessly towards a noble cause.
