New Nalanda Branches to be Established

Since 2009, there has been a significant increase in the number of outstation devotees traveling to Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang to attend various courses and activities.  Thus, at the Members’ EGM on 13 January 2013, Nalanda Buddhist Society has decided to establish full-fledged branches outside Serdang to serve our community better.

Obituary – Prof. Emeritus A. K. Warder

It is with deep respects that we announce the passing of a distinguished scholar in Indology, Prof. Emeritus Anthony Kennedy Warder (A. K. Warder) earlier this month in Canada.  Prof. Warder passed away days before Chinese New Year, and his funeral was held in Toronto on Friday, 15 February 2013.

Luang Por Viradhammo visits Nalanda Centre

Nalanda is honoured by the visit by Phra Ajahn Viradhammo, a senior monk from the forest tradition of Ajahn Chah, today at 1pm.  Luang Por (“venerable elder”) Viradhammo resides in a forest monastery near Ottawa, Canada; and is on a visit to Thailand and Malaysia.

Mandarin Course – The Life of Buddha

The first session of the General Buddhist Studies in Mandarin course was conducted on 13 January.  Organised by Nalanda Institute Malaysia’s Department of Buddhist & Pali Studies, this course has received positive responses and the first session was attended by 50 participants.
