‘Bhavana Day’ with Ven. Jutipañño

On Saturday 11 February, Venerable Jutipañño Mahāthero, Abbot of Dhamma Light Meditation Centre, will lead ‘Bhāvanā Day’– a one-day meditation retreat in Mandarin – at Nalanda Education and Outreach Centre in Happy Garden KL.  Registration is now closed.  All registered participants are reminded to arrive at NEO KL by 8.30am this Saturday. Please wear suitable and comfortable clothing, and bring along a shawl or jacket to keep warm.

Pindacāra during Lunar New Year festivities

On Saturday 4 February, the community at O.U.G. and Happy Market gathered to perform the meritorious deed of dāna in support of the Mahā Sangha. Even as vendors and marketgoers are busy preparing for the last few days of the Lunar New Year festivities, many stepped forward to offer food and requisites at Pindacāra (monks on alms-round), experiencing the joy of giving especially to those worthy of honour.

Wishing you a Happy “Chap Goh Meh” 元宵节快乐!

Today is the full-moon day of the first lunar month, marking the celebration of “Chap Goh Meh” (literally, ‘the fifteenth night’) in the local Hokkien dialect. On this significant day for the Chinese community, families traditionally mark the festival with another round of reunion dinners and make aspirations for a happy and peaceful year ahead.

Countdown – 2 more days to NEO Centre KL Officiating Ceremony

Preparations have been rife in the past weeks to prepare the new NEO Centre in Happy Garden and ensure it is ready to receive esteemed guests on its officiation.  Volunteers have been gathering at the Centre every day to help in all manner of tasks. It is this spirit of selflessness that defines our community of volunteers who come from all walks of life.  Teachers, professionals, youths, teenagers, home-makers and those retired work together harmoniously and with care for each other.

On Saturday 3 December, the community around Happy Garden joyfully participated in the Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme to support the Mahā Sangha.  This monthly programme, organised by Nalanda Branch KL since 2012, enables the laity in the vicinity to learn and practise the spirit of dāna even as they go about their householder duties.
