5th Memorial Day for respected teachers

29 September 2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the passing of eminent Tipitaka and Pāli Scholar, Venerable Prof. Kakkapalliye Anuruddha Nayaka Thero, and renowned meditation teacher, Acharya Satya Narayan Goenka.  Nalandians pay tribute and express our gratitude to them for their significant contributions towards the propagation of Buddha-Sāsana.  We wish both our teachers the highest bliss of Peace, ‘Santi’.

Much anticipated launching of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre

After a year of reconstruction, we are deeply honoured to invite the community to the launching of ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ on Saturday, 6 October 2018.  The newly-completed building is named after Nalanda’s late Spiritual Adviser – the most Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda – who inaugurated our Society in 2003.  This facility is solely dedicated to Buddhist education and Dhamma propagation.

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the moon above us is full and bright.  It is traditionally a time for Chinese families to gather for reunion dinners and to wish for each other’s well-being.  We would like to wish you happy get-togethers with family and friends.  May you enjoy the fullness of life and the brightness of blessings, just like the full-moon tonight!

On 9 September 2017, Nalandians gathered at ‘Nalanda House’ to perform the last lowering of flags ceremony, together with blessings for the demolition and reconstruction of the facility to house more students coming to learn Dhamma.

Preview of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre on Dhamma Day

Nalandians celebrated ‘Dhamma Day’ – the full-moon day for the month of Asalha – on Friday, 27 July with a joyful air and spiritual fervour. Devotees were delighted to have the opportunity to preview the soon-to-be-completed K. Sri Dhammananda Centre, located just across the road from Nalanda Centre.

Volunteer Appreciation Day

Last Sunday’s Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ was the biggest event we ever organised in Sri Serdang.  An estimated 12,000 people participated in the Fair to help raise funds for ‘Wisdom Park’.  We owe the success of this event to our wonderful team of tireless volunteers who numbered around 400 this year.  Your dedication to community service and selfless spirit were simply amazing!

Prayers for the people of Lombok

On Sunday 5 August, a very strong earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter Scale wreaked havoc on the Indonesian island of Lombok, near Bali.  The death toll from the earthquake has risen past 347.  Another 1,447 people were injured and 165,003 displaced.

Volunteers cleaning ‘KSDC’

On 15 July, volunteers were mobilised to clean K. Sri Dhammananda Centre, which was at the final stages of completion.  The spirited Nalandian team worked on Level 2 and Level 3 of the Centre, bearing vacuum-cleaners, brooms and mops to wipe away dust and debris.
