Happy meeting of two wonderful Elders

On Sunday 24 November, the Abbot of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul, Ven. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero (40 vassa) made a visit to Nalanda House Sri Serdang to pay respect to an elder monk, Ven. Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Maha Thero (66 vassa). Ven. Sri Saranankara showed deep reverence to the senior bhikkhu.

Arrival of Ven. Dr. Henepola Gunaratana at Nalanda Centre

Venerable Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Māha Nāyaka Thero arrived safely at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang on 22 November together with the members of NEO Centre, Johor Bahru. Ven. Gunaratana was warmly welcomed by Bro. Tan, Nalanda officers, members and devotees. Nalandians are overjoyed to meet Bhante again and are eager to learn from his inspiring wisdom.

Nalanda hosts Ven. Dr. Henepola Gunaratana

We are very honoured to welcome the visit of Venerable Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Māha Nāyaka Thero to Malaysia!  Ven. Gunaratana at 86 years of age is the Theravada Sangha Nāyaka (senior-most and honorary 'Chief monk') of the USA and North America.  Also popularly known as ‘Bhante G’, he is a renowned Buddhist meditation teacher and author of several influential works, such as the best-selling ‘Mindfulness in Plain English’.

Bro. Tan was warmly hosted by the Buddhist Fellowship of Indonesia (BFI) for 3 days, where he conducted Dhamma sharings and attended many meetings with BFI Committee Members. There were many precious, inspiring moments when people were connected to the Dhamma through those sharings and meetings.

Members briefed on Building Expansion Plan

Nalanda Officers and members gathered at Nalanda Centre on Saturday 9 November for a special briefing on ‘Nalanda Building Expansion Project’ by the Building Committee.  Nalanda will be entering a very exciting period in the next few months, with work commencing on the renovation of Nalanda Centre’s East-Wing and the refurbishment of the proposed Nalanda Youth Centre.   Thus, the Management has specially arranged this briefing session to keep Officers and members informed on the latest developments.

Nalanda Officers attend BCA Workshop

On Saturday 9 November, several senior Nalanda Officers attended a ‘People-Engagement Workshop’ organized by the Buddhist Community Alliance (BCA).  The BCA is a loose alliance of 5 Buddhist organisations in the South Klang Valley.  Nalanda President Bro. Lee Kong Foo is currently the rotating Chairman of the alliance.

Ven. Sanghasena visits Nalanda Centre

On Wednesday 6 November, the most Venerable Sanghasena Mahathero from Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Ladakh, India, visited Nalanda Centre together with 4 staff members.  The party was earlier received at Nalanda House, where Ven. Sanghasena had a meeting with Ven. Aggacitta Mahathero (Abbot of Sasanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary in Taiping) and Sayadaw U Kevala of Myanmar.
