Together as a community in Selangor State Wesak Launching Ceremony

On Sunday 20 April, Nalanda leaders led by President Sis. Buddhinī Tan joined the community at the Selangor State Wesak Launching Ceremony at Maha Karuna Vihara in Shah Alam.  The event which marked the beginning of Wesak celebrations in the state, was attended by over 300 Buddhist leaders and devotees.

Today 22 April is Earth Day, a time to reflect on our impact on the planet and up our efforts in safeguarding our planet.  Earth Day Observance at Nalanda Centre saw devotees, youths, Dhamma School facilitators, parents & students come together last Sunday 20 April, to upkeep the environment in and around our spiritual home.

Undergraduates learn ways to manage stress

On Sunday, 13 April, Nalanda Youth Centre organised a Stress Management Workshop for students aged 16 to 23.  Guided by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar, the students became more aware of their emotional states and explored practical ways to care for their minds and hearts amidst daily stress.

Earth Day commemoration this weekend at Nalanda

In celebration of Earth Day this week, Nalanda members, students and devotees are mobilising to contribute towards sustainability and environmental efforts.  Today, Green Warriors of Wisdom Park and our friends from Seck Kia Eenh, Melaka have planted trees and shrubs to green and cool the environment.  Lead of the Landscaping Team, Dr. Chen Xing Wei also conducted a special HCL 002 (Horticulture and Landscaping Course) class open to all volunteers on responsible food waste management.

Hosting Serdang Buddhist Association’s Metta Bhavana Retreat

On Saturday 12 April, Serdang Buddhist Association organised a Metta Bhavana Retreat at Nalanda Centre from 9am to 5.30pm.  Ven. U Paññāsami, who currently resides in Dhamma Earth, guided the group consisting of 90 participants in cultivating this ennobling quality of loving-kindness.  Tranquillity and calm permeated the Centre as participants listened intently to his instructions and put them into practice immediately.

Ven. Dr. Chandima advise on overcoming the Five Hindrances

On Wednesday 9 April, Ven. Dr. Chandima guided Nalanda members and devotees in meditation and gave a Dhamma talk on ‘How to overcome the Five Hindrances in meditation’.  He guided the meditators to be aware of our emotional state and as we breathe in and out mindfully, to embrace and calm those states.

Earth Day Sunday Morning Service

We invite you to join us to commemorate Earth Day at Nalanda Centre next Sunday 20 April, to give back to Mother Earth and contribute back to the community.  The programme which will be joined by Sunday Service devotees, Dhamma School facilitators & students, and Youth Centre, starts at 8am with chanting and a Dhamma sharing by Sis. See Hui Shien, followed by outdoor service.

‘Happy Young Adults’ explores adapting to change

On Tuesday 8 April, the Happy Young Adults participants came together at NEO Centre KL in Happy Garden to learn with Sis. See Hui Shien on the topic of ‘Adapting to change and being agile’.  The first step is to adjust our attitude to know and accept that impermanence and change is a part of life change.  And when we face the eight worldly winds of gain & loss, fame & ill fame, praise & blame, pleasure & pain, we should hone ourselves to be unattached to changing circumstances and maintain equanimity to be emotionally stable.

Full-moon Uposatha of Citta month

Today is the full-moon Uposatha day of the Citta month, a good time to dedicate ourselves to strengthen our Dhamma practice.  On this day, many practitioners observe the Eight Precepts and deepen their meditation practice, as well as listen to Dhamma talks and reflect on the teachings.
