Pray for earthquake victims in Myanmar & Thailand

Earlier today, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, causing widespread destruction and panic. The earthquake's epicenter was near Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city with a population of about 1.5 million.  A significant aftershock of 6.4 magnitude followed shortly after.

Wishing ‘Selamat Berpuasa’ to all our Muslim friends

Today is the beginning of the Ramadan month of the Islamic calendar. All around the world, Muslims will fast from food and drink from dawn till dusk. The holy month of Ramadan is regarded as a time for intense faith rejuvenation, spiritual reflection, prayer, cultivating self-restraint and having compassion for those who are less fortunate. The practice encourages Muslims to have patience and gratitude, perform good deeds, develop generosity and spending time with family and friends. The act of fasting and self-reflection cleanses and redirects the mind away from worldly and sensual pleasures and helps to purify one’s mind and rejuvenates faith.

Free School starts with wide smiles and joyful learning

Nalanda Free School commenced its new academic year last Monday 17 February at Nalanda Centre.  New and returning students have begun to strengthen their skills in core subjects including Mathematics, Science and languages guided by dedicated volunteer teachers.

Nalanda leaders rejoice at Ariya Vihara groundbreaking

Sunday 12 January marked the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the 1st Theravada Bhikkhuni Sima, Nunnery and Dhamma Training Centre of Ariya Vihara at Kwasa Damansara, Selangor. Nalanda leaders and members joined dozens of Buddhist community leaders and supporters in this milestone event, on the land which was gazetted for this use on 18 March 2021 by the State Government.

Sharing blessings on Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia’s 25th Anniversary

On Monday 16 September, Nalanda leaders attended the blessing ceremony organised by Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Centre Malaysia 法鼓山马来西亚道场, in celebration of the centre’s 25th Anniversary.  The ceremony was held with the theme “A World of Blessings”, offering well-wishes and blessings for the nation's peace and prosperity on Malaysia Day.

Sanghika Dana at Serdang Buddhist Association

On Monday 16 September, Nalanda representatives, led by President Sis. Buddhinī Tan, participated in the ‘Sanghika Dana’ organised by Serdang Buddhist Association in Seri Kembangan.  This meaningful event has been held annually for the past decade to honour the dedication and efforts of both past and present Sangha members in upholding the Buddha Sāsana.  In the presence of over 100 venerable monks and nuns, the Buddhist community made offerings to the Maha Sangha, with hearts full of joy and gratitude.
