‘Sangha Day’ at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur

On Sunday 23 November, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch held its ‘Sangha Day’ in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur.  The programme began with meditation, pūja and chanting, followed by a Dhamma talk by Bro. Ānanda Fong who shared on the significance of offering to the Sangha.

Nalanda SP Branch 9th Members’ Day

On Saturday 22 November, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch had our monthly Members’ Day at Gurun Buddhist Association.  Branch Chairman Bro. Khaw Seng Giap and Committee Member Bro. Fong updated members on the proposed building plans for NEO Centre Sungai Petani with beautiful slides.  They briefed members of the procedures ahead – to obtain members’ approval for the plan and thereafter to call tenders.

Branch Committee Members’ trip to Sri Serdang

In November, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Chairman Bro. Khaw, Deputy Chairman Bro. Teoh, Treasurer Bro. Por and Committee Member Bro. Fong made a trip to Nalanda Centre to meet with Bro Tan.  The meeting at our ‘spiritual home’ in Sri Serdang was to brief Bro. Tan and Nalanda’s Board of Management on plans to construct the proposed Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Bandar Mutiara, Sungai Petani.

Kedahan Visitors at Nalanda Centre

On Sunday 23 November, 8 members from 3 Buddhist organisations in Kedah – Young Buddhist Association Malaysia (Kedah Liaison Committee), Gurun Buddhist Association and Guar Chempedak Buddhist Society – made a study visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The visitors participated in the pūja and chanting at our Service Sunday; after which they were brought on a tour of Nalanda Centre and Nalanda Youth Centre.  Our Kedahan visitors were impressed with the peaceful ambience and functionality of the Centre.

2015 Nalanda Free School Tuition Class Schedule

The Nalanda Free School was established in June 2010 by a group of dedicated volunteers to provide free tuition and other educational support to academically-weak and needy students. We aim to provide quality teaching by caring tutors, and offer personal attention to help students' learning and comprehension by offering tutorials in important subjects such as languages, mathematics and science.

Conclusion of Buddhist Studies Course in JB

On 25 and 26 October, the final two sessions of the Mandarin Buddhist Studies Course (Semester 2) was conducted by Sis. Nandini Tan at NEO Centre Johor Bahru.  Sis. Nandini gave separate lectures on the ‘Four Noble Truths’ and ‘Noble Eightfold Path’.  Six new participants joined the weekend’s class and showed great enthusiasm by arriving early at the Centre to learn the Dhamma.

Final session of ‘Mettā Bhāvanā’

The Mettā Bhāvanā’ meditation course held at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur every Thursday has entered its 8th and final week.  Bro. Tan will be guiding the last session on 16 October.  This course provides a wonderful opportunity for Nalanda KL Branch members to understand and practise meditation for spiritual purification.

Road Show and Community Outreach

On Sunday 5 October, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members organised a successful community outreach activity at the EUPE Food-court in Taman Ria Jaya, Sungai Petani.  The purpose of the road show was to promote the upcoming “Melodies for the Heart” fund-raising concert to be held there on 18 October.  The concert aims to raise funds to build the proposed Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Bandar Mutiara, Sungai Petani, to serve the Buddhist community in the Northern Region.
