Over the weekend on 21 January, Nalandians in Kedah were busy cleaning and decorating NEO Centre Sungai Petani in preparation to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year.  Members and devotees worked harmoniously in making the place spick and span and truly welcoming!

Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting

All members of Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia registered at Sri Serdang headquarters are requested to attend an Extraordinary General Meeting (E.G.M.) called by the Board of Management; the E.G.M. will be held on Sunday 16 October 2016, 1.00 pm, at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang to discuss the Society’s future development plans.

Nalanda to build ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’

Nalanda Buddhist Society will rebuild ‘Nalanda House’ in Sri Serdang and rename it the ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ to honour the centenary of our late Spiritual Adviser, the Most Venerable Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nāyaka Thero (1918 - 2006). The proposed Centre will cater for the use of Nalanda Dhamma School, which has seen remarkable growth over the years. The new 2½-storey facility will be able to accommodate 100 more students comfortably.

Vesakha New-moon today

Today marks the start of the holy month of Vesakha.  This evening, Nalanda Centre will be hosting the Vesakha New-moon Uposatha Service beginning at 8.00pm.  We shall observe this spiritual occasion with offerings, chanting, meditation, and Dhamma sharing.  The best way to honour of our Great Teacher – the Buddha, is to enhance our efforts to learn and practise the Dhamma.  We welcome everyone to participate actively in Nalanda’s upcoming learning programmes.

Book sponsorship for Wesak Day

Exactly one month from today, we will be celebrating the Wesak Full-moon “Buddha Day”. Registration for Pilgrimage is closed

Dear friends, kindly be informed that the registration for this year’s Pilgrimage to India and Nepal is officially CLOSED today.  Members who are selected for the 2016 Pilgrimage will be informed by 17 April.  Would-be pilgrims have to attend a 2-month special Dhamma course in September-October to prepare for this spiritual journey.  You will also be advised on practical matters such as visa application and other preparations from time to time.

Nalanda branches to hold AGMs in March

It’s that time of the year for Nalanda members to fulfill our constitutional duties again.  Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia will be holding our Annual General Meetings for 2016 early next month.  Kicking off the series of AGMs next weekend will be Nalanda branches in Sungai Petani, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, followed by the Serdang headquarters in the following weekend.
