Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch members had a very enlightening and enjoyable 4-day study tour to Kedah and Perlis, from 22 – 25 November. The entourage left NEO Centre in JB on 22 November and stopped over for lunch at our ‘spiritual home’ – Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang. The group of 30 participants also visited the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Kuala Lumpur for a familiarization tour, thereafter left for Sungai Petani in Kedah. Read more
43 devotees departed for Jogjakarta, Indonesia, on 18 September with keenness and great anticipation. Under Bro. Tan’s adept guidance and care, the 5-day study tour was truly informative and inspiring as we visited and paid homage at magnificent Buddhist monuments in the region. We also met with local Buddhist communities and had uplifting exchanges in the Dhamma.

Read moreOn 6 July, 42 participants on the 5-day Borobudur Study Tour departed for Yogjakarta with Bro. Tan as the tour leader. The highlight of this tour was a visit to the famous Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Participants were amazed at the many candis they visited. Every candi (such as Candi Mendut, Candi Plaosan, and Candi Sewu) has a rich history; and all of them were beautifully constructed. One could marvel at how people of the past had such strong faith in the Buddha-Dhamma which inspired them to build those majestic structures.
Read more2011-2012 marks the auspicious 2,600th Anniversary of Buddhism. Nalanda is commemorating this pivotal milestone with special study tours to Borobudur in July, and to Sri Lanka in September; followed by a pilgrimage to India and Nepal in December 2012. All these tours will be led by our Founder Bro. H S Tan.
