Āsāḷha Full-moon, also known as Dhamma Day, is a significant Buddhist occasion marking the anniversary of the Buddha's first sermon (the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) to His first five disciples at Deer Park in Isipatana, two full moons after His Enlightenment. On this day, the ‘Wheel of Dhamma’ was set in motion when the Buddha expounded the Four Noble Truths – of ‘Dukkha’ (suffering); its cause; its cessation; and the Path to its cessation, which form the foundation of Buddhist teachings.

Read moreOn Wednesday 25 June, Nalanda members and devotees gathered for the Uposatha Evening Service at Nalanda Centre which featured a Dhamma sharing on ‘The Seven Factors of Awakening’ by Bro. Tan Siang Chye. The Buddha’s teachings enable one to see things clearly without bias, and give rise to understanding and wisdom. This awakening of the mind, requires one to train the undeveloped mind and undertake Bodhipakkhiyā Dhamma, the 37 factors of enlightenment.
