Thank you to Buddha Day volunteers!

Two days ago, on Sunday 14 May, Buddha Day volunteers gathered back at Nalanda Centre for an appreciation session hosted by the organising committee.  Chairperson Sis. Livin Leow extended our heartfelt gratitude for the volunteers’ support, cooperation and care for everyone who came to Nalanda to honour the Buddha.

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Nalanda

Yesterday, on Sunday 14 May, devotees and Nalanda Dhamma School students together gave thanks to their mothers and mother-figures for all their care and sacrifices.  Reflecting on the blessings that we have in life, much of it is owed to our first teacher and carer, our mothers, who are constantly by our side to support and cheer us on.

Buddha Jayanti Exhibition last day tomorrow

In the past week, devotees and friends have been visiting the Buddha Jayanti Exhibition at the Pustaka in Nalanda Centre, to discover more about the Buddha Day theme of ‘Living a Meaningful Life’.  This exhibition is prepared by Nalanda Dhamma School with hand-made exhibits to showcase the richness and beauty of Buddha's teachings.

Ajahn Achalo visits Wisdom Park

Nalanda is honoured to host Ven. Ajahn Achalo, Abbot of Anandagiri Forest Monastery, at Nalanda Centre and Wisdom Park. Ajahn and his retinue made a maiden visit to Wisdom Park yesterday evening.  He was delighted by the simple and functional facility built that draws parallels to the forest monastery he has set up in Petchabun, Thailand.

Visit by Member of Parliament Yeo Bee Yin on Buddha Day

On Wesak ‘Buddha Day’, Nalanda received a visit by Yang Berhormat, Puan Yeo Bee Yin, Member of Parliament for Puchong, which covers Sri Serdang where Nalanda Centre is located.  Accompanying her were Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya councillors Mr. Mohan Singh and Mr. Wong Yii Seang.

Community comes together for Heritage Procession

On the evening of 4 May Buddha Day, over 600 people gathered at Taman Seri Serdang for the highlight of Nalanda’s observance, the Heritage Procession.  Maintaining serenity and peace, the community walked mindfully behind the Buddha-rupam which was conveyed on a wooden sedan to the harmonious beat of drums and gongs.

Buddha Day Dhamma talks now on-line

On 3 and 4 May, the eve and full-moon day of the Vesak month, devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to learn and reflect on the Buddha Day theme ‘Living a meaningful life’.   Having been born as a human being with a mind which can be developed, we can choose to lead a worthy life that gives meaning to existence.  We do this by developing right values and principles which are of value to our own spiritual progress and to the well-being of others.

Hosting 12 Sri Lankan scholar monks

On Sunday 7 May, Nalanda members and volunteers were honoured to welcome 12 monks from Sri Lanka, who are on a study tour courtesy hosted by Maha Karuna Buddhist Society.  The young members of the Sangha are top scholars in Buddhist and Pali studies and are visiting Malaysia for the first time.

Dhamma talk by Ajahn Achalo

Nalanda Centre is honoured to host Ven. Ajahn Achalo, Abbot of Anandagiri Forest Monastery in Petchabun Thailand, for a Dhamma talk this Saturday 13 May at 8pm.  Born in Brisbane Australia. he developed a keen interest in meditation at the age of twenty and a year later left for Thailand to study Buddhism.  After two years of practising in various centres and monasteries, Ajahn Achalo ordained in 1996 at Wat Nong Pah Pong.  All are welcome!
