Sam Poh Thong ‘Joy of Giving’ Carnival for Sangha education fund

On Sunday 17 May, Nalanda leaders paid our respects to Ven. Sing Kang at Sam Poh Thong in Ampang, sharing our rejoice on the joyous fund-raiser.  The event aims to raise funds to support the educational needs of the Sangha. The community gathered since the early hours today to set up stalls and have been welcoming devotees and visitors warmly.  The fair continues until 3 pm and we hope that you can also join the fair to support a noble cause.

Nalanda community prepares for Buddha Day

In just over two weeks’ time, Buddhists around the world will be celebrating Wesak or Buddha Day - a deeply significant occasion to honour and commemorate our Teacher, the Buddha. At Nalanda, this year’s Buddha Day observance week will be held from 30 May to 7 June. In preparation for this important celebration, the Buddha Day Working Committee recently came together to provide updates on progress, review plans, and fine-tune the programme arrangements.

Joy of friendship at 12th Nalanda Members’ Convention

The 12th National Nalanda Members’ Convention, held from 1 to 3 May, brought together a heartfelt reunion of like-minded friends united by their love of the Dhamma. The event was filled with joy, reflection, and camaraderie as members reconnected, cherishing the warmth of community and shared purpose.  The gathering served as a reminder of the strength found in friendship and in practicing the Dhamma together.

Fostering the spirit of giving through Pindacāra

On Saturday 18 April, Nalanda members and volunteers resumed the monthly Pindacāra (alms-round) at Pasar Basah Bazar Rakyat, Seri Kembangan, after a brief pause for festival observances and a members’ retreat. The market community warmly welcomed the Sangha members, stepping forward with gladness and respect to offer alms. It was heartening to witness how simple acts of kindness inspired others to come forward to give on their own initiative.

UPM Buddhist Society one-day learning camp at Nalanda

On Saturday 18 April, 30 members of Persatuan Buddhist University Putra Malaysia (PBUPM) held a one-day learning camp at Nalanda Centre. Being in close proximity to UPM, we were glad to host the students once again and to provide a conducive environment for their learning and training.

A story of transformation in the making

Since November 2025, the Nalanda community has been preparing for a 'Dhamma through Drama' production, “The Conquest of Asoka”, with practices and rehearsals ongoing since early this year. This production is also one of the special projects to commemorate the 20th memorial day of the late K. Sri Dhammananda, honouring his enduring Dhammadūta spirit and his compassionate efforts in spreading the Buddha’s teachings.

Joyful family outing to Wisdom Park

On Saturday 28 March, 65 parents, students, facilitators and volunteers from Family Dhamma School Kuala Lumpur embraced the spirit of “Joyful Awareness” in their first outing of 2026 at Wisdom Park. The outing brought learning outside the classroom, families to experience anchoring themselves in the present and cultivating a deep sense of communal harmony.
