Read moreOn Saturday 12 October, Nalanda Free School organised an SPM Chemistry Examination Preparation Seminar to help Fifth-formers prepare for our upcoming exams. 78 students from 6 schools in Seri Kembangan and Kajang attended the full-day workshop at Nalanda Centre. We were honoured to have Sis. Khor Swee Moi, a dedicated volunteer teacher at Nalanda Free School, and “Guru Cemerlang (Kimia)” in 2010 (awarded by the Ministry of Education Malaysia) to conduct the course.

Read moreOn 18 August, Nalanda Dharma School conducted a Facilitators’ Training Programme to enhance teaching skills. 11 facilitators from both the Sri Serdang and Happy Garden branches enjoyed a day full of sharing, learning, and team-bonding! Through various interactive activities and group discussions, the Dharma School facilitators gained more understanding of teaching, and build greater trust between each other. It was indeed a rewarding and enriching day for them!

In his welcoming speech, the President of SABS Dato’ Vincent Lim emphasised the importance of having good leaders to propel Buddhist organisations forward and to fulfill the mission of propagating the Dhamma.
The first Nalanda Officers’ Workshop (N.O.W.) for 2013 was held on Saturday, 13 July at our spiritual home - Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. 64 Nalanda officers from 5 divisions and 4 branches (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Kedah) took part in this workshop.
Read moreOn Saturday, 22 June, the 2-session “Taking Refuge & Observing the Five Precepts” Workshop held at Nalanda Centre was successfully concluded. Participants took the opportunity to ask questions actively and clarify their doubts. The session ended with an interactive case study and high-spirited group discussion, with everyone having a clearer perspective on the Precepts as a spiritual guideline to develop one's morality and character. The speaker, Mr. Lok Eng Hong, pointed out that the world is ever-changing very quickly. We should keep up with the news every day and be competent to cope with the rapidly changing market demands. Employers can interpret a person’s character by merely viewing the first page of one’s resume.
Read moreOn Saturday, 9 March, a Volunteer Induction Programme was organised to introduce new volunteers to Nalanda’s culture and high service quality. During the 4-hour session, Sis. Buddhini, Sis. Santi and Sis. Faith took turns to present the volunteer guidelines and facilitate group discussions. It was a fruitful workshop and by the end of it, everyone was feeling like a V.I.P.!
Read moreIn addition to the story-telling workshop series, Mr. Vijaya Samarawickrama also imparted his knowledge and skill of the precious Asian theatre widely known as wayang kulit. In this first session of the wayang kulit learning workshop held on 12 January, participants were taught the knowledge of ancient wayang kulit techniques as well as the skills of producing a puppet befitting a wayang kulit performance.
