Luang Pu Maha Sawaeng guides Nalanda community

On Wednesday 24 June, members and devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to learn Dhamma with Venerable Luang Pu Maha Sawaeng.  In his compassionate sharing, Luang Pu reminded us of the great fortune we have today — to encounter the Dhamma and encouraged us to keep the Dhamma and Vinaya close to our hearts, and to walk this path with sincerity. He also emphasised the importance for lay practitioners to diligently observe the Five Precepts as the foundation for a wholesome and peaceful life.

Members learnt more about Nalanda's D.N.A (Direction, News & Action), reflecting on the values and culture that guide our mission of providing Holistic Buddhist Education.

Prayers for victims of Venezuela earthquakes

With heavy hearts, we extend our prayers and loving-kindness to all those affected by the powerful earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on Wednesday, 24 June near the coastal region close to Caracas. The quakes has claimed over 900 lives, injured thousands, and rendered many more homeless as building and infrastructure were damaged. Rescue teams continue to work tirelessly amidst challenging conditions to reach those missing and in need.

Hosting Ajahn Kittisobhano at Nalanda

Nalanda members and volunteers warmly welcomed Ajahn Kittisobhano to Nalanda Centre today in preparations for the 2-day Mandarin Dhamma Workshop which starts tomorrow. Ajahn will guide us in this workshop titled “When Knowing Sets You Free” to better understand the Four Noble Truths and how we can lead our lives according to the Buddha’s teachings.

On Sunday 21 June, Nalanda Dhamma School hosted a joyful and meaningful Parents’ Day celebration at Nalanda Centre, dedicated to honouring and reflecting on the invaluable role and contributions of parents in our lives. The programme began with children gently holding their parents’ hands, experiencing the warmth and care embodied in those precious hands that have guided, protected, and supported them through life’s challenges.

We invite registered participants of BPS 404, Higher Certificate in Buddhist Studies, for the first lecture this Saturday 27 June. The course will be held at K. On Sunday 21 June, parents gathered at Nalanda Centre for a forum in conjunction with Parents’ Day celebrations titled “The Essential Parenting Skill in a Changing World.” Sis Livin Leow moderated the forum, with panellists Bro. Tan Say Kee, Sis. Foo Ai Li, Bro. Vincent Lim and Sis. Poh Chin Hui. The session offered a space for learning, reflection, and shared experiences on parenting in today’s fast-changing conditions.

Seeds of faith and generosity through Pindacāra

On Saturday 20 June, Nalanda members and volunteers gathered for the monthly Pindacāra (alms-round) at Pasar Basah Bazar Rakyat, Seri Kembangan, led by Ven. Rathana Sri and Ven. Rahula from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul. The serene presence of the Sangha members walking mindfully on alms-round inspired many members of the market community to come forward and make offerings.
