Ajahn Buddhadāsa’s 120th birth anniversary

Today we commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Ajahn Buddhadāsa Indapañño, one of the most notable Buddhist teachers of the 20th century.  Ajahn Buddhadāsa was born on 27 May 1906 in Chaiya, Southern Thailand.  He renounced the worldly life at age 20 and led an exemplary life of an ascetic bhikkhu until his passing. He founded Suan Mokh, the first modern forest monastery in Thailand in 1932.

Buddha Pūja & Dhamma talk by Bro. Tan Siang Chye

On the morning of the Wesak full-moon day, let us gather to honour our Enlightened Teacher, the Buddha by learning and reflecting on Dhamma together.  The service will start with Buddha Pūja, followed by a Dhamma talk by Bro. Tan Siang Chye on the theme “Leading a Life of Wisdom & Compassion”. After the service, the special ‘Terima Kasih, Dhammananda’ Exhibition will be launched followed by offering of lunch dana to venerable monks at 11.30am.  You may bring cooked food to offer.

Building positive family relationships through Dhamma

On Sunday 24 May, 50 parents completed the meaningful 5-week Parenting Workshop conducted by Bro. Aggaphala Yap for Nalanda Dhamma School parents. The workshop was specially designed to support parents in nurturing their children with wisdom and compassion, guided by the Buddha’s teachings.

Satipaṭṭhāna Meditation learning sessions & Weekly Meditation

We invite you to join a 10-week meditation programme introducing the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, based on the Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta, in a structured and accessible way to support meditators in developing a grounded daily practice. The programme starts on 10 June to 9 September and sessions are held on Wednesdays from 8pm to 10pm.

Today, Saturday 23 May, leaders and volunteers from Nalanda Buddhist Society attended the National Wesak Conference 2026 at Menara KEN, organised by the Malaysian Buddhist Consultative Council. The gathering brought together Buddhist communities from across the country in a spirit of learning, fellowship, and shared commitment to the Buddha’s teachings.

Support the building of Wisdom Park Phase 2

Since its opening in 2022, Wisdom Park has become a vibrant centre for Dhamma learning, meditation retreats, youth development, and leadership exchanges. As of May 2026, the encouraging response from the Buddhist community has brought the current facilities to full capacity. To date, more than 6,000 participants have benefited from the facilities for training, learning, and cultivation.

All-hands-on-deck to prepare for Buddha Day

Wesak Full Moon falls next Sunday, 31 May! The Nalanda community has been joyfully preparing to welcome family and friends for the Buddha Day Observance programmes from 30 May to 7 June. Alongside the Heritage Procession, Dhamma Appreciation Night, Mass Food Offering, and inspiring Dhamma talks, visitors can also look forward to two special exhibitions — “Terima Kasih, Dhammananda” and “Wisdom Park”.

Mass Food Offering on Buddha Day

In conjunction with Wesak celebrations, a Mass Food Offering will be held on ‘Buddha Day’ Sunday 31 May, at 5.30pm. This annual tradition brings together devotees and the community to cultivate generosity and share blessings.  We rejoice in the kind-hearted support of devotees, who make their offerings with joy and sincerity.
