Buddha Day – Mass Food Offering

A Mass Food Offering for the public will be held on Wesak ‘Buddha Day’, 4 May, from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.  Every year, devotees bring along food to share and serve the public out of generosity and humility.  We rejoice in knowing that many who received food years ago are now offering food to the public in return!  Sharing blessings and working together in harmony, this mass food offering is also a wonderful opportunity to cultivate ourselves spiritually.

The Dhammapada is among the best-known and most-loved of Buddhist texts.  Consisting 423 verses spoken by the Buddha on 300 different occasions, the Dhammapada is truly worthy of veneration, and thus explains its ensuing popularity.

Volunteer briefing at Nalanda Centre

Dhamma talk by Ven. Ajahn Kalyano

On Sunday 2 April, we were honoured to host Venerable Tahn Ajahn Kalyano for a Dhamma talk, his first visit back to Nalanda Centre since the onset of the pandemic.  Tahn Ajahn advised us to bring the quality of mindfulness into our lives as often as possible, in order to cultivate inner awareness and strength of mind.

Leadership exchange with Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia

On Saturday 1 April, Nalanda leaders led by President Sis. Buddhinī, went on a leadership exchange visit to Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Centre Malaysia 法鼓山马来西亚道场 at their premises in Petaling Jaya.  Greeted warmly by Ven. Chang Zao (常藻法师), and leaders of the Society, the group was brought on a tour around the Centre which caters to meditation, training and learning programmes.

Young working adults learn together

Since 28 March, over 40 young adults have been meeting for the ‘Happy Young Adults’ programme every Tuesday at Nalanda Community Centre Sri Petaling, to develop a deeper understanding of how they can overcome challenges at the workplace.  Organised by Nalanda Youth Centre, participants have an average of 6 years work experience and are still charting their career paths whilst facing challenges which are new to them.
