“Happy Young Adults” conclude with forum

The inaugural “Happy Young Adults” programme concluded last Tuesday 11 October after 11 weekly gatherings to address common challenges faced by young working adults, and how to resolve them skillfully in accordance with Dhamma. The insightful talks and discussions with speakers who exemplify strong values throughout their careers, as well as interactive activities, culminated in a public forum on “Being a Successful Working Buddhist”.

“Lawatan sambil belajar” di Taman Botani Putrajaya

On Sunday 9 October, participants of the Horticulture & Landscaping Course (HCL 001) completed their course with a study trip to the Botanical Garden at Putrajaya.  The educational tour was led by Dr. Chen, lead of the Landscaping Team at Wisdom Park and focused mainly on the trees in the Park’s botanical theme sector of ‘Forest Fringe’.

‘Sangha Day’ is an important occasion at Nalanda for the lay community to honour the virtues and contributions of the Māha Sangha (monastic order) in preserving and propagating Buddhism. Devotees express gratitude to monks and nuns who strive diligently in practising the Dhamma, and teaching it for the benefit of mankind.

60 days to Officiating Ceremony of NEO Centre KL

Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Kuala Lumpur is now at 95% construction completion.  Whilst interiors have started to be fitted-in over the past weeks, members and volunteers have also been carrying out daily chanting there, as well as prepare the premise to welcome guests for its Officiating Ceremony on Sunday, 11 December 2022.

‘Happy Young Adults’ programme in Johor Bahru

Many young adults face difficulties in achieving career success while maintaining a joyful and peaceful state of mind.  This is particularly important as we strive to balance work and other aspects of our lives.  To help young adults cope with stress in life and enhance their well-being, Nalanda Johor Bahru (JB) Branch is organising a special programme – ‘Happy Young Adults’.  This peer-support platform enables young adults to share common challenges at work and equip themselves with right understanding and Buddhist principles to overcome difficulties.

A new experience for new Buddhists

On 1 to 2 October, 60 participants and volunteers of the recently completed courses – BPS 104 Buddhist Studies in Mandarin and Svagatam Inspiring Programme joined a two-day retreat at Wisdom Park to deepen their Dhamma learning and experience aspects of the Buddhist way of life. We rejoice in the spirit of learning and service of everyone.

Turning hardwork into ‘heart-work’

On 18 September, 100 participants from the Dhamma-Living Camp for Young Adults spread out across Wisdom Park to render their service in cultivating and maintaining the campus grounds.  The youths worked hard in teams to plant trees, turf grass, and constructed a vegetable plot with positivity, harmony and a can-do spirit – not a furrowed brow was seen amidst the perspiration and weariness.  Even the intermittent rain did not dampen the spirit to keep going!

The ‘F.U.N.’ begins

Last Saturday 1 October, Nalanda Youth Centre was abuzz with activity as university students from around the Klang Valley gathered for their first session of Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N). The youths got to know each other a little better and also reflected on the value of teamwork in fun and experiential activities.  They also discussed how we can break out of our own comfort zone in order to develop more skills and hone our purpose in life.

Double celebration at convocation

On Saturday 24 September, Nalanda Institute Malaysia held a Convocation Ceremony and Gratitude Day for graduates of two of its courses this year, BPS 306 Certificate in Buddhist Studies and BPS 104 Buddhist Studies in Mandarin.  Family and friends gathered in support of our 80 new Buddhists who diligently completed the courses and assignments over the past months.
