On Saturday 20 December, Nalanda Buddhist Society hosted the final ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) programme for year 2014 at the Seri Kembangan morning market.  Three venerable monks from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul participated in this alms-round.

Delightful children’s learning camp

From 18 – 21 December, Nalanda Dharma School facilitators and students jointly organised a successful camp for 72 children ranging from 8 – 12 years old.  Throughout the four days spent at Nalanda Centre, the children and volunteers resonated with the theme of the camp – ‘love and respect’.

‘Sangha Day’ at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur

On Sunday 23 November, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch held its ‘Sangha Day’ in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur.  The programme began with meditation, pūja and chanting, followed by a Dhamma talk by Bro. Ānanda Fong who shared on the significance of offering to the Sangha.

Monthly Pindacāra at Sri Petaling

On Saturday 6 December, Nalanda Buddhist Society hosted four venerable monks for our Pindacāra (monks going on alms-round) Programme in Sri Petaling.  After the alms-round, the venerables adjourned to NEO Centre Happy Garden for lunch dāna.  Ajahn Sujato from Australia was later invited to deliver a Dhamma talk to the congregation there.

Experiencing Joy on ‘Sangha Day’ at Nalanda

Meaningful ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Memorial Day’

31 August 2014 not only marked the 57th Independence Day of Malaya, but also the 8th anniversary of our late Spiritual Advisor Ven. Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda’s passing.  Nalandians gathered on this day to commemorate our late teacher’s lifetime missionary work and celebrate his spirit and teachings that brought a huge impact to the Buddhist community.

Junior Dharma School Stay-in Programme

On 5 and 6 July, 27 Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch Junior Dharma School students between the ages of 9 and 12 years old stayed-in at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The objectives of the stay-in were to foster bonding among facilitators and students, to learn Buddhist culture and chanting, as well as to involve parents in rendering service to the Buddhist community. ‘Dhamma Day’ commemorates the preaching of Buddha’s first discourse after His Enlightenment – the ‘Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta’ –  where He taught His initial disciples the fundamental teachings of ‘Four Noble Truths’.  We welcome you to join us at Nalanda Centre at 9.00 am on Sunday 13 July, for a joyful and spiritual Morning Service with meditation, chanting, and a special Dhamma teaching by Nalanda Founder Bro.
