‘Sangha Day’ is an important occasion at Nalanda for the lay community to honour the virtues and contributions of the Māha Sangha (monastic order) in preserving and propagating Buddhism. This is an occasion to express gratitude to monks and nuns who strive diligently to bring happiness and peace to mankind. Devotees in return offer robes, food, medicinal support, educational support, and other requisites to them.
Read moreOn Saturday 16 September, Nalanda leaders joined in the ‘Sanghika Dana’ organised by Serdang Buddhist Association in Seri Kembangan. This meritorious event, which has been held yearly for the past 8 years, is aimed at reinforcing the connection and support between the Sangha and lay communities. In the presence of over 100 venerable monks and nuns, the Buddhist community made offerings to the Maha Sangha, with hearts of joy and gratitude.

The community around the Centre also took the opportunity to perform these meritorious deeds to support the Sangha. It was indeed a joyful start to an auspicious day.

In 2018, Venerable re-ordained as a Theravada Bhikkhu under Venerable Dvipitaka Sayadaw Ashin Kovidābhivamsa in Penang, and trained in Bodhivana Buddhist Hermitage, Kuching.

We also need to follow through by taking action to change for the better.
