It was a day to ‘let go’ of their busy routines and to practice being here and now. Nalandians were striving diligently in their practice at the serenity of the Centre.

The sitting session was led by Venerable Chi Xiang (持向法师), who also gave the undergraduates a Dhamma talk. The UPM Meditation Group and Ven. Chi Xiang are regular visitors to Nalanda, having held many weekly sessions as well as a meditation retreat here.

Read moreOn Sunday 28 September, Nalanda Dharma School students went on a trip to Taman Putra Perdana, Putrajaya, to practise meditation outdoors. Students started the day with chanting, followed by light physical exercise; they were then ready for meditation. Students were introduced to ‘walking meditation’, using their movement as meditation ‘object’. After the walking session, they continued with another round of sitting meditation.

During group sitting, participants were skilfully guided by Bro. Tan, who reiterated that Mettā meditation is one of the antidotes to the three ‘mental poisons’ of greed, hatred and delusion. Eliminating these three poisons will end suffering and lead to liberation from misery.
