Pindacāra & lunch dāna at NEO Centre KL

We invite you and your loved ones to join us this Saturday 1 July, for the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) at Taman O.U.G. (8.30am) and Happy Garden (9.30am) morning markets.  After the alms-round, you are also welcome to join the offering of lunch dāna to venerable members of the Sangha at NEO Centre, Happy Garden.  You may bring along cooked food and fruits to offer.  All are welcome!

Generosity around every corner

On Saturday 3 June, the community gathered once again to participate in the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms round) at the O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets.  On this occasion, Ven. Thai forest monks visit Wisdom Park

On Tuesday 30 May,  we were honoured to host Luang Por Lai Thipadhammo, Luang Por Sawang Kalyāno, Luang Por Charlie Piyadhammo, Ajahn Dton Dhirapanno and Ajahn Meng Techadhammo at Wisdom Park.  The Venerable Sirs are from Ajahn Chah’s lineage and were on a busy Dhamma tour across Malaysia and Singapore.

Energetic & wholesome service day for Family Dhamma School

On Saturday 27 May, a total of 80 students and facilitators of Family Dhamma School had their first school outing at Wisdom Park, to cultivate family well-being and experience the joy of service.  Anchored in the morning communal chanting together with regular volunteers at Wisdom Park, the families fanned out across the grounds for learning activities.

On the evening of Monday 29 May, Nalanda members and volunteers welcomed Ven. Alokavamsa and Sayalay Mitta Devi to Nalanda Centre.  Venerable Alokavamsa and Sayalay Mitta Devi are both from Indonesia, and will be staying at Nalanda until the middle of June.

Full-moon Uposatha Service & Dhamma talk by Ven. Alokavamsa

We invite you to observe the Jeṭṭha full-moon with us at Nalanda, this Friday 2 June.  The evening Uposatha Service starts at 8pm with puja, meditation and a Dhamma talk by Ven. Alokavamsa, an Indonesian monk.  Ven. Alokavamsa is a practitioner at Pa-Auk Meditation Centre in Myanmar and is residing at Nalanda until 15 June, during his visit to Malaysia.  All are welcome.

Evening service with Luang Por Lai Thipadhammo

On the evening of Saturday 27 May, devotees congregated at Nalanda Centre to learn from Luang Por Lai Thīpadhammo, a senior Thai forest monk who trained under the late Ajahn Chah.  Luang Por was accompanied by Luang Por Sawang Kalyāno, Luang Por Charlie Piyadhammo, Ajahn Dton Dhirapanno and Ajahn Meng Techadhammo, who are on a Dhamma tour across Malaysia and Singapore.  The Dhamma talk was delivered by Luang Por Lai in Thai, and translated into English by Ajahn Dton.

Cultivate an independent happiness

On Friday 19 May, we warmly welcomed Ven. Rahula, a monk of Mexican descent, to Nalanda Centre for the new-moon Uposatha Service.  In his Dhamma talk on the importance and benefits of keeping the Five Precepts, Ven. Rahula said that the Buddha taught us how to attain happiness which is independent and comes from within.  However, without the right training, much of our happiness is dependent on our senses.  This kind of happiness is unstable and fleeting.
