10-year Memorial Service in Ladakh

On Sunday 25 August, a memorial service was held at Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) Leh – Ladakh, conducted by Ven. Sanghasena.  35 Nalandians, led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan, were present to personally honour our dear sisters – G. G. Tan, Julie Ang, Jennie Cheong, and Lee Ah Yem – who lost their lives in a tragic accident whilst on a charitable mission there.

In Memoriam – A decade in passing

On the fateful day of 25 August 2009, while travelling on a charity tour to help build schools and welfare homes in Ladakh, four of our dear Dhamma friends – G. G. Tan, Julie Ang, Jennie Cheong, and Lee Ah Yem – met with a tragic road accident that caused them their lives. Today marks the 10th anniversary of their passing, and a group of Nalandians led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan is now in Ladakh to pay special tribute for their services rendered to the Buddha-Sāsana.

More ‘Care Bags’ reach the needy

From 4 to 12 August, Nalanda members and volunteers had the priviledge of presenting ‘care bags’ and supplies to charitable homes and the needy around Klang Valley.  With many fair-goers stepping forward to donate towards the ‘Care Bag’ project during the recent Nalanda Family Fun Fair 2019, we were able to choose suitable food items and provisions to help those less fortunate.

‘Thank You’ for an amazing day!

Nalanda Family Fun Fair 2019 concluded successfully this afternoon with the great support of benefactors and devotees who travelled from near and far to Sri Serdang!  Bright smiles greeted the sunny weather as everyone rallied together in harmony to contribute to the holistic community education.

First Sanghika Dāna at Wisdom Park

On 6 June, Nalandians congregated at Wisdom Park to welcome venerable monks and nuns representing the Mahā Sangha to the first Sanghika Dāna held there. Ven. B. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero who was present advised us to be consistent in living a Buddhist way of life to enhance our spiritual well-being.  If we were to focus only on material comforts and neglect spiritual  development, we may not be able to tolerate even the slightest adversity and difficulty.

New Board of Management installed

On 1 May ‘Nalanda Day’, the new batch of elected office-bearers took their ‘pledge of service’, in a simple ceremony at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. The new Board was elected at the Society’s 16th Annual General Meeting held on 17 March, with nine out of eleven members retained.  Bro. Vincent Lee and Bro. Pee Che Yong retired from the Board after serving two continuous terms, with much appreciation from members.

Welcome home to all Nalandians

This morning, Nalanda members are travelling from Johor Bahru, Sungai Petani and all corners of the Klang Valley to congregate at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang for the 7th National Members’ Convention which starts today.   The event which will run for 5 days, will culminate with the celebration of Nalanda’s 16th Anniversary on 1st May, Nalanda Day.  We wish all members safe travels and look forward to welcome you back to our spiritual home.

Joyful preparations for Buddha Day

7th National Members’ Convention

Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia will be holding its 7th National Members’ Convention in Sri Serdang for 5 days, from 27 April to 1 May.  This important meeting of members from all branches will discuss issues vital to the Society’s development.  There will also be many teaching sessions by Nalanda achariyas.
