Deadly air crash in Indonesia

This morning at 7.30am Malaysian time, we received the tragic news that Lion Air JT610 had crashed into the Java Sea minutes of taking off from Jakarta.  The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft with 189 people on board was on a scheduled flight to Pangkal Pinang on Bangka Island.

Nalanda leaders visit Wisdom Park

On Sunday 14 October, Nalanda Board of Management and EXCO members visited Wisdom Park in Hulu Selangor to mark its 3rd anniversary.  10 members of the Wisdom Park Development Committee (WPDC) were on hand to welcome the Nalandian leaders.  They were brought on an extensive tour of the construction site which spans 12 acres currently.

‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ officially launched

The ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ was officially launched last night with the blessings of the Maha Sangha, and with over 1,300 Buddhist leaders, Dhamma teachers, guests, neighbours, volunteers and devotees in attendance.  The Centre was built to cater for increasing demand for Buddhist education and training.  It is so named as a tribute to Nalanda’s late Spiritual Adviser, Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda.

K. Sri Dhammananda Centre to be launched today

Tonight at 9.00pm, the ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ in Sri Serdang will be officially launched by the Maha Sangha. The newly-completed building is named after Nalanda’s late Spiritual Adviser, and is dedicated to Buddhist education and Dhamma propagation.

Joyfully preparing for twin celebrations

Nalanda Centre is teeming with activity as Nalandians prepare to receive more than 1,200 benefactors and supporters this Saturday to mark the Society’s 15th Anniversary Appreciation Night.  The final touches are also underway to launch the newly-constructed K. Sri Dhammananda Centre on the same evening.

Pray for the people of Palu

An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale and a series of powerful aftershocks that followed devastated the city of Palu in Central Sulawesi on Friday 28 September, killing more than 400 people and causing widespread damages.  The severe quake also caused a tsunami which resulted in further casualties in the area.

5th Memorial Day for respected teachers

29 September 2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the passing of eminent Tipitaka and Pāli Scholar, Venerable Prof. Kakkapalliye Anuruddha Nayaka Thero, and renowned meditation teacher, Acharya Satya Narayan Goenka.  Nalandians pay tribute and express our gratitude to them for their significant contributions towards the propagation of Buddha-Sāsana.  We wish both our teachers the highest bliss of Peace, ‘Santi’.

Much anticipated launching of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre

After a year of reconstruction, we are deeply honoured to invite the community to the launching of ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ on Saturday, 6 October 2018.  The newly-completed building is named after Nalanda’s late Spiritual Adviser – the most Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda – who inaugurated our Society in 2003.  This facility is solely dedicated to Buddhist education and Dhamma propagation.
