Enhancing communication skills

Nalanda Training & Enhancement Centre (NTEC) was established on 1 May 2017 to provide appropriate training programmes to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of Nalanda members in serving the community.  Since May, NTEC has played a pivotal role in guiding the growth of ‘Dhamma Families’ with fortnightly video recordings on various Buddhist subjects.

Ethnic Chinese in Malaysia and throughout the world celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) on the full-moon day of the eighth lunar month, which falls on 4 October this year.  We wish everyone who celebrates this traditional festival much happiness and merriment while having meaningful reunions with family members and gatherings with friends.

India’s meditating top golfer

CNN News reported that one of India and the world’s top golfers, 30 year old Anirban Lahiri, is a practitioner of the ancient Buddhist meditation technique called ‘Vipassana’, which means “to see things as they really are”; and he has been doing it since he was 17.

Lecture on Theravāda Buddhism

Theravāda is one of the two major branches of Buddhism in the world today (the other being Mahāyana).  The Pāli term ‘Theravāda’ means “doctrine of the elders”, as this school of thought can trace its origins from the time of Emperor Asoka Moriya twenty-three centuries ago, making it the oldest existing Buddhist sect.

4th Memorial Day for teachers

Today marks the 4th anniversary of the passing of eminent Pāli Scholar Venerable Kakkapalliye Anuruddha Nayaka Thero, and renowned meditation teacher Acharya Satya Narayan Goenka.  Nalanda Centre will host a simple tribute to both teachers at 7.30pm this evening with meditation and chanting.

Flags lowered for the last time

On Saturday 9 September, Nalandians gathered for the last time at Nalanda House to conduct a blessing ceremony before it was handed over to the contractors for demolition and reconstruction.  The ceremony began at 4.30pm with flag-raising to the chant of ‘Jayamangala Gatha’.
