Special Memorial Service for MH370

8 March 2015 marks the 1st anniversary of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370′s mysterious disappearance over the Indian Ocean, with 239 passengers and crew on board.  We invite everyone to participate in a Special Memorial Service dedicated to the victims of this tragedy.  Let us be united in our compassion and generate thoughts of mettā (loving-kindness) to the grieving families.

Happy “Chap Goh Meh” 恭祝大家元宵节快乐!

Today is the full-moon of the first lunar month, and thus marks the ending of the 15-day Lunar New Year celebrations.  In Malaysia, this festival is popularly known as “Chap Goh Meh” (literally, ‘the fifteenth night’) in the local Hokkien dialect, and is a significant day for the Chinese community.

‘Day of Gratitude’ at Nalanda Dharma School

On Sunday 1 March, Nalanda Dharma School (NDS) organized a traditional “Tea Ceremony” at Nalanda Centre in conjunction with the Lunar New Year.  This year, the Chinese delicacy of “tang yuan” was served instead of the usual tea.

Maintaining family well-being and harmony

On Sunday 15 February, Bro. Tan gave a brief sharing in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.  He began by paraphrasing Tolstoy, “Unhappy families are unhappy for many reasons. Happy families are always happy for the same reasons”.  The key to family well-being and harmony is genuine love, appreciation, respect, and simplicity.

Nalanda Centre reopens today

Dear friends, we are pleased to inform you that Nalanda Centre is reopened at 10.00 am today after the Lunar New Year holidays.  Normal activities at the Centre and Library will also resume, starting with tonight’s Group Meditation and Sutta Discussion at 8.30 pm.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at Nalanda Centre, soon!

‘Bodhi Pūja’ at Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul

On Tuesday 10 February, a team of Nalandians participated in a ‘Bodhi Pūja’ at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul.  This special ‘Bodhi Pūja’ was offered in honour of Venerable Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Thero, who underwent an eye surgery recently.
