Support holistic education at Nalanda Family Fun Fair

We are happy to announce that the popular Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ (FFF) is back and will be held on Sunday, 17 August, from 9am to 3pm.  This annual event brings together the community to support educational programmes of Nalanda Free School, Nalanda Institute, Dharma School, Library and Youth Centre.  Funds raised will also be channeled towards  building a teaching hall, hostel and ancillary facilities at Wisdom Park.

11th National Nalanda Members Convention – Day 2

From 31 May to 2 June, more than a hundred Nalanda members across Malaysia gathered in Wisdom Park for the 11th National Nalanda Members Convention.  It was a joyful reunion for everyone after a year of hard work and selfless service. The second day of the Convention explored how to grow with care, an essential ingredient for the Nalanda community’s unity and growth.

‘Peace Walk’ in serenity and harmony

On the evening of Saturday 17 May, members and devotees of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch gathered in good spirits and camaraderie for a ‘Peace Walk’ around Happy Garden to commemorate Buddha Day.  The walk was led by Ven. Siriwimala and Ven. Ratanasiri from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul.   Prior to this, light refreshments were served to the local community, with devotees generously offering food.

Faith and devotion at Heritage Procession

On the evening of Buddha Day, Monday 12 May, the community came together at Sri Serdang for the highlight of Wesak observance – the Heritage Procession. Continuing Emperor Asoka’s legacy, once a year, the Buddha-rupam was conveyed on a wooden sedan to the harmonious beating of drums and gongs, escorted by colourful parasols and followed closely by devotees holding candle-lights.

Wesak state-level celebrations at Maha Karuna

Just this morning, Saturday 17 May, Nalanda leaders and volunteers joined the Buddhist community at the Selangor State-level Wesak celebrations hosted by Maha Karuna Buddhist Society in Elmina, Shah Alam. The state-level Wesak celebrations which was launched by the Selangor State Government on 20 April 2025, culminated in today’s gathering of Selangor State representatives, Sangha members, Buddhist community leaders and devotees.

Understanding wisdom and compassion on Buddha Day service

On the morning of Buddha Day, Monday 12 May, the community at Nalanda gathered for the Buddha Day Service to commemorate the enlightenment of our Great Teacher, the Buddha. Bro. Tan Siang Chye, gave a Dhamma talk on this year’s theme ‘Leading a Life of Wisdom and Compassion’.

Thank you for a meaningful Buddha Day

Yesterday, on the full-moon day of Vesākha, over 2000 devotees friends from the Buddhist community joined the day-long celebration of Buddha Day at Nalanda Centre.  Many reunited with old friends and many more made new friends as the community from near and far gathered to honour the Buddha.

Getting to Nalanda for Buddha Day

We warmly welcome you to Nalanda Centre this coming week for Buddha Day programmes held from today to 18 May.  If you are taking the MRT Putrajaya line which covers areas from Kwasa Damansara, Kepong Baru, Jalan Ipoh, KLCC, to Putrajaya Sentral, alight at the UPM Station which is just 1 km or a 13-minute minute walk from Nalanda Centre.

Working together to prepare for Buddha Day

In the past weeks, Nalanda members, devotees, volunteers, Dhamma School facilitators and students have been coming together to prepare for this year’s Buddha Day Observance.  With a line-up of programmes over a week, everyone has been able to contribute their skills and many even developed new skills as they stepped up to help.
