9th AGM of Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch

On Saturday 12 March, members of Nalanda Sungai Petani (SP) Branch gathered for their 9th Annual General Meeting at NEO Centre SP.  Supporting this important meeting were Nalanda Board of Management members, President Sis. Buddhini Tan and Deputy President Bro. Charlie Teng.  Members received updates on the Branch’s activities in 2021 which remained largely on-line due to the Covid-19 pandemic, before voting for the new 2022 – 2024 Branch Management Committee.

On Sunday 6 March, members of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch joyfully gathered for their 9th Annual General Meeting held at Nalanda Centre.  During the meeting, members celebrated the continuous learning spirit they forged with the community over the past year through on-line programmes.

Nalanda Sungai Petani holds 8th A.G.M.

On Saturday 13 March, Nalanda Sungai Petani (SP) Branch held their 8th Annual General Meeting at the NEO Centre in SP, with Branch Chairman Bro. Song Wai Leng presiding.  The meeting was well attended by Branch members who followed the Covid-19 SOPs strictly but gladly as they gathered on this important occasion.

8th A.G.M. of Nalanda KL Branch

On Sunday 7 March, members of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch gathered joyfully at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang for their 8th AGM.  The meeting was also joined by Nalanda Buddhist Society President, Sis. Evelyn Chow, Honorary Secretary Sis. Santi Cheang, Board of Management member Bro. Lee Kong Foo and EXCO member Sis. Nandini Tan.

Extension of temporary closure

Following the latest announcement by the Prime Minister on 10 May, Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang and our branch centres in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani will remain closed at least until the end of the “Conditional Movement Control Order” period on 9 June.

Temporary closure extended in tandem with MCO

Today, 10 April, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the ‘Movement Control Order’ (MCO) in Malaysia until 28 April 2020.  Following this, we would like to announce that Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang and our branch centres in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani will also remain closed until the lifting of MCO.

Extension of Temporary Closure

On 25 March 2020, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a directive to extend the ‘Movement Control Order’ by two weeks to 14 April. With this latest development, the suspension of all Nalanda programmes and the temporary closure of Nalanda Centres nationwide will also be extended until Tuesday, 14 April 2020.

Temporary closure of Nalanda Centres

On 16 March 2020, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a directive for the temporary closure of all places of worship across Malaysia to stem the spread of Covid-19.  Thus, we would like to inform you that Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang, as well as NEO Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani will be closed temporarily from Wednesday, 18 March to Tuesday, 31 March 2020.

Important Notice on Covid-19 Pandemic

Suspension of Nalanda programmes and activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 13 March 2020, the Prime Minister’s office issued a special address to Malaysians on the current situation of Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Based on the Ministry of Health’s advice, we are temporarily suspending all programmes at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang, NEO Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani, as well as at all Nalanda branch libraries.  This suspension has taken effect from 6.00PM on Sunday, 15 March 2020, and for an indefinite period.

Meritorious deeds at monthly Pindacāra

On Saturday 1 February, devotees gathered at the Taman O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets to volunteer in the monthly community outreach programme, ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round).  This programme enables the community to learn how to support Sangha members and provides a platform for them to do meritorious deeds.
