Care Bags reach five welfare homes

Last week, from 23 to 27 July, Nalanda volunteers have been presenting over 270 Care Bags together with healthy home-cooked meals and groceries to five children and elderly care homes around Klang Valley. This week, another 170 bags will make their way to four homes located in Melaka, Seremban and Selangor.

Gearing up for Family Fun Fair

Since early June, Nalanda members, volunteers and devotees have been actively doing the groundwork in preparations for the much-anticipated Family Fun Fair. A dedicated team of volunteers have been receiving stock from sponsors, volunteers visiting various public locations to engage the community and promote the event, and actively preparing Carebags for orphanages and care homes.

On Sunday on 20 July, Nalanda was packed with various learning sesions, meetings and service opportunities.  From Sunday services, Dhamma school sessions, preparations for Family Fun Fair and important meetings for the upcoming WACANA Buddhist Conference, it was a fulfilling and meaningful day indeed. First ‘Care Bags’ of 2025 shared with kids at Pure Life

Last Saturday 21 June, Nalanda volunteers and youths delivered the first batch of Care Bags, totalling 80, to needy children attending ‘Malam Muhibbah’ at Pure Life Society, Puchong.  Volunteers also contributed food of different cultures to this event, organised by Pure Life which promotes unity and harmony.

Support holistic education at Nalanda Family Fun Fair

We are happy to announce that the popular Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ (FFF) is back and will be held on Sunday, 17 August, from 9am to 3pm.  This annual event brings together the community to support educational programmes of Nalanda Free School, Nalanda Institute, Dharma School, Library and Youth Centre.  Funds raised will also be channeled towards  building a teaching hall, hostel and ancillary facilities at Wisdom Park.

Sadhu anumodana to all Buddha Day volunteers

On Sunday 25 May, the Buddha Day Observance Organising Committee invited all volunteers back to Nalanda Centre for a Volunteer Appreciation & Luncheon, to extend our appreciation for their service. The 8-day observance was only made possible and seamless with the collective support of all our members and volunteers to plan over 13 programmes and tend to the participating community.

Faith and devotion at Heritage Procession

On the evening of Buddha Day, Monday 12 May, the community came together at Sri Serdang for the highlight of Wesak observance – the Heritage Procession. Continuing Emperor Asoka’s legacy, once a year, the Buddha-rupam was conveyed on a wooden sedan to the harmonious beating of drums and gongs, escorted by colourful parasols and followed closely by devotees holding candle-lights.
