I believe all Nalandians who embrace the spirit of ‘selfless service’ and strive for spiritual growth would understand the meaning of this phrase and attest to it based on their own experiences.

An annual 4-day retreat for Nalanda Dharma School facilitators was held from 2 – 5 November in Pulau Ketam, Selangor, with active participation by 16 facilitators and trainees. During the retreat, the School’s performance in 2013 were objectively reviewed, while the 2014 School structure and programmes were discussed.
On Friday 1 November, Nalanda Founder Bro. H S Tan, Director of Pustaka Nalanda Bro. Ananda Fong, and Board Member Bro. Charlie Teng, together with Datin Seri Mah Ming Yuet and Ajahn Malee Praison, attended a Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue entitled “Peace & Sustainability”. The Inter-faith Dialogue was jointly organized by Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM – the Malaysian Institute of Islamic Understanding), International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB), and the International Movement for a Just World (JUST). Bro. Tan went to Nottingham University Buddhist Society on Wednesday 30 October to give an insightful Dhamma teaching, accompanied by Bro. Gan Jia Cheng and Bro. Ho Yuan Zhan. The night’s teaching at Nottingham was themed “The Man in the Mirror”. It touched on how we can grow into a better person with timely and wise reflections. The ‘reflector’ we use is called the ‘Mirror of Dhamma’.
Nalanda Buddhist Society members congregated at our ‘spiritual home’ – Nalanda Centre – on Saturday 26 October for another reunion-like Members’ Day gathering. This round, new members from Nalanda Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru branches also joined the assembly for the first time. They received a warm and encouraging welcome from other Nalandians.
It is with profound respects that we announce the passing away of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, on Thursday, 24 October 2013. His Holiness had been the 19th titular head (Somdet Phra Sangharaja) of the Thai monastic order since 1989. Read more
