Dhamma talk by Luang Por Lai Thīpadhammo this Saturday

We invite you to join us for a Dhamma talk by Luang Por Lai Thīpadhammo at 8pm this Saturday 27 May.  Luang Por Lai was ordained as a ‘samanera’ at Wat Nong Pah Pong with Luang Por Chah as his preceptor in 1979.  He received full ordination in 1980 at Wat Pa Wiwek and is currently residing at Wat Pa Khantidham in the Lamphun Province.  Accompanying Luang Por Lai is Luang Por Sawang, Luang Por Charlie, Ajahn Dton and Ajahn Meng, venerable monks of the Ajahn Chah lineage in the Thai Forest Tradition.  All are welcome.

Hosting Ajahn Achalo at Nalanda

On Saturday 13 May, Nalanda members, volunteers and devotees joyfully welcomed Venerable Ajahn Achalo to Nalanda Centre for a Dhamma talk.  Almost four years since his last visit, we were happy to see that Ajahn is well and has had opportunities to further develop Anandagiri Forest Monastery in Thailand, of which he is abbot.

BPS 104 participants complete their course at Wisdom Park

On 20 – 21 May, participants and volunteers of BPS 104 Buddhist Course in Mandarin gathered in Wisdom Park for a stay-in programme.  They hailed from Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani where they attended seven classes since February at NEO Centres in KL, JB and SP.  The participants were happy to take to the open grounds of the educational campus for the final part of the course.

Dhamma talk by Luang Por Lai Thīpadhammo

This Saturday 27 May, we are honoured to welcome Luang Por Lai Thīpadhammo, Luang Por Sawang, Luang Por Charlie, Ajahn Dton and Ajahn Meng to Nalanda Centre.  The venerable monks are of the Ajahn Chah lineage in the Thai Forest Tradition, and are on a Dhamma tour in Malaysia from 26 to 31 May.

Hosting Ajahn Visalo at Nalanda

From 5 to 7 May, we were honoured to host Ajahn Visalo, an Indonesian monk, who received his monastic training from Wat Pah Nanachat, Thailand where he currently resides.  A gentle and compassionate monk, Ajahn Visalo lent his presence to the Buddha Day programmes and relayed kind words of advise to the congregation.

Gimhāna Retreat B.E. 2567 starts today

For seven weeks after the Buddha’s Enlightenment on Wesak full-moon in May, He contemplated on the Dhamma with His perfectly clear faculty of comprehension.  Then, He travelled for seven days from Bodhgaya to Sarnath, where He preached the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta on the Asalha full-moon (Dhamma Day) in July.

On Monday 1 May, Nalanda members, volunteers and devotees marked the milestone 20th Anniversary of the Society together at Nalanda Centre.   In this gathering of good spiritual friends, everyone rejoiced in the progress and impact of the Society’s programmes over the years, borne of the strong missionary spirit which unites us.

New-moon Uposatha Service & Dhamma talk by Ven. Rāhula

We invite you to join us this Friday 19 May for the Jeṭṭha New-moon Uposatha Service, which will mark the start of Nalanda’s ‘Gimhana Retreat’.   The service commences at 8pm with evening chanting and a Dhamma talk by Venerable Rāhula, a monk of Mexican descent who ordained in 2015.  Ven. Rāhula has learned and practiced with respected teachers including Ven. Sayadaw U Tejaniya, Ven. Sayadaw Dr. Ukkamsacara and his preceptor Ven. Sayadaw Dr. Nandamālābhivaṃsa.

Memorable Buddha Day Observance B.E. 2567

Learning, reflective, serene, and joyful – these are some of the feedback given by participants of Buddha Day B.E. 2567.  This first full-fledged observance since the start of the pandemic, has made the lives of those who actively participated – its organisers, volunteers, devotees and visitors, more meaningful and grounded with the Buddha’s Teachings which are embedded within every programme.

Thank you to Buddha Day volunteers!

Two days ago, on Sunday 14 May, Buddha Day volunteers gathered back at Nalanda Centre for an appreciation session hosted by the organising committee.  Chairperson Sis. Livin Leow extended our heartfelt gratitude for the volunteers’ support, cooperation and care for everyone who came to Nalanda to honour the Buddha.
