Fruitful Learning for Facilitators!

Smiling faces after a fruitful training On Tuesday 15 October, Nalanda Dharma School organised a training programme for facilitators to learn about healthy living and to gain a better understanding of educational philosophy and theories. This full-day training was attended by 15 facilitators from Nalanda Dharma School, Nalanda Free School, Nalanda Youth Centre and Nalanda Volunteer Centre.

Festive Mid-Autumn fellowship gathering

On Saturday, 7 September, Nalanda Dharma School students, parents and devotees gathered at the NEO Centre in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival in a meaningful way.  Opening the session with puja and chanting, it was followed by a Dhamma sharing by Sis. Faith Teh.

The Young Buddhist Quiz 2013

On Saturday, 31 August, nine teams of teenagers aged 13 to 16 from five Dhamma schools came together to participate in a friendly competition – the “Young Buddhist Quiz” at Nalanda Centre. The 36 students were representing Bandar Utama Buddhist Society Sunday Dhamma School, BMSM Samadhi Vihara, Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society Sunday Dhamma School, Nalanda Dharma School, and Shah Alam Buddhist Society Sunday Dhamma School.

Joint Session of BCA Sunday Schools

The Buddhist Community Alliance (BCA) Dhamma School teachers and students had a wonderful get-together on Sunday, 25 August 2013 at Nalanda Centre.  Friends from Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society, Seremban Sudhamma Buddhist Society, Sungai Long Buddhist Society and Nalanda Buddhist Society reunited for a day of joint Sunday Service and learning.

Enriching Learning Moments

On 18 August, Nalanda Dharma School conducted a Facilitators’ Training Programme to enhance teaching skills.  11 facilitators from both the Sri Serdang and Happy Garden branches enjoyed a day full of sharing, learning, and team-bonding!  Through various interactive activities and group discussions, the Dharma School facilitators gained more understanding of teaching, and build greater trust between each other.  It was indeed a rewarding and enriching day for them!

A Wholesome Holiday

Nalanda Dharma School students had a stay-in programme from 15 – 17 August during the recent school holidays. Over 3 days, 22 young participants practised living and learning as a community. Along with daily chanting and meditation, there were regular Dhamma sessions with Sis. Sunanda Ong, Director of Nalanda Dharma School.

Wesak 2013 ‘Dhamma Appreciation Night’

A most inspiring ‘Dhamma Appreciation Night’ was recently held on 24 May to celebrate the Wesak full-moon Buddha Day. The dynamic performances that evening delighted the audience with its youthful zest and brilliant comedic effects. The night’s 3 performances were specially presented by a team of dedicated young Nalandians, who were ably guided by Nalanda Institute’s Director, Mr. Vijaya Samarawickrama.

Buddha Jayanti Photograph Exhibition, 24–26 May

The Buddha Jayanti Exhibition is one of the highlights of Nalanda’s Wesak Observance.  From handcrafted exhibits to photographs, messages of the Dhamma are illustrated through visual presentations to stimulate reflection from the viewer’s perspective.

Junior Dharma School Stay-in Programme

Over a three-day period from 26 – 28 March, Nalanda Dharma School organised a Stay-in Programme for our junior students from the Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur (KL) branch.  As part of the stay-in, the students had an outing to the KL Bird Park, lunch at Lake Gardens, and visited the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB).
