On Saturday 20 June, Nalanda’s monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme was joyfully held at Seri Kembangan market. The ‘Pindacāra’ was well-attended by local devotees and our ‘kalyana mitta’ (spiritual friends) from Singapore. It was indeed an enriching experience for them to participate in this wholesome activity. May the merits accrued be shared with all beings. Sadhu anumodana!
Read moreFrom 19 to 21 June, Nalanda Youth Centre was honoured to host the vibrant youth and their mentors from the Buddhist Fellowship of Singapore for their annual retreat. Our Singaporean friends had several inspiring and fruitful ‘Dhamma Chat’ sessions with Nalanda Founder, Bro. Tan who guided them on Buddhist Leadership which also benefited the Nalandian youths. There was an interactive session among the youth to exchange views and ideas on the programme of their respective Youth Centre.

The ‘Family Fun Fair’ is held in aid of our ‘Education & Development Fund’. Read moreOn Friday 19 June, Nalanda was honoured to host Venerable Ajahn Dhammasīha, a German bhikkhu residing in Australia, for an evening Dhamma talk. Devotees were much inspired by Ajahn’s simple yet profound explanation on mental purification. In a gradual approach to practising Dhamma, the first thing to cultivate is Dāna (generosity), followed by observing the Five Precepts properly, so as to overcome all unskillful behaviours. In this way, we are cultivating for our own happiness and for the happiness of others as well.

Alokavamsa is a practitioner at Pa-Auk Meditation Centre in Myanmar, and transited for two nights at Nalanda Centre providing the privilege for Nalandians to offer dāna to venerable. Read moreOn Friday 12 June, Nalanda Free School organized an outing for primary school students to Zoo Negara (National Zoo) in Kuala Lumpur. 31 students participated in this learning trip, accompanied by 5 teachers and facilitators. This special outing was meant as a ‘reward’ for younger Free School students who had full-attendance since classes began in January.

The Hercules C-130 aircraft was reported to have encountered technical problems soon after taking-off. It crashed into two houses and a hotel while attempting to make an emergency landing. There were no signs of anyone on the plane surviving the crash. The number of casualties on the ground remains unclear.
