The programme began with meditation, offerings and chanting, followed by a Dhamma talk by Bro. Ananda Fong who shared about the significance of the Sangha.

Published studies state that people experience happiness and peace when they pay full attention to what they are doing – this is the mental state of mindfulness. When we are not focused on what we are doing, we lack contentment. A wandering mind brings restlessness, anxiety about the future and regrets of the past.

The 11 teams had five weeks to research the development of Buddhism in their chosen Southeast Asian country and prepare their presentations as part of the course assessment.

Tan delivered daily Dhamma teachings, encouraging everyone to temporarily disconnect from city life and tune in to nature. With the welcomed respite from hectic activities, the group strengthened their mindfulness and reflection.
